رمضان المبارک کی آخری رات

THE LAST NIGHT MAY FALL ON THE 29TH OR THE 30TH OF THE MONTH. SUBJECT TO THE APPEARANCE OF THE MOON, SO IT IS  RECOMMENDED TO DO THE FOLLOWING AA’—MAAL ON BOTH THE NIGHTS

A) Recite Duaa-e-Widaa’a -Bidding farewell to the month from Sahifa Sajjadia 

B) Have a bath (Ghusl) Recite “Ziyaarat” of Imam Husayn (A.S.)

C) Recite the following Surahs from the Holy Quran i)AN-A’AM Ch6)  ii) KAHF(Ch18)   iii) YAASEEN (Ch 36 )

D) Recite 100 times.

I seek the forgiveness of Allah and I repent before Him.

astaghfiru allaha wa atubu ilayhi

أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللّهَ وَأَتُوبُ إلَيْهِ.

 

E) Imam Jafar As Saadiq (A.S.), according to Shaykh Kulayni (R.A.), used to recite the following dua’a tonight:

O Allah the month of Ramazan, in which Thou revealed the Holy Quran, now is at its end. I take refuge with Thy kindest disposition, O Lord, lest the dawn of this night breaks forth, or the month of Ramazan comes to an end, and I stand as an accused sinner, liable to be punished, on the Day I am presented before Thee.

  

ALLAAHUMMA HAAD’AA SHAHRU RAMZ”AANAL LAD’EE ANZALTA FEEHIL QUR—AAN WA QAD TAS’ARRAM WA A—O’OD’UBI—WAJHIKAL KAREEM YAA RABB AN YAT’LU—A’L FAJRU MIN LAYLATEE HAAD’IHI AW YATAS’ARRAMA SHAHRU RAMZ”AAN WA LAKA QIBALEE TABI—A’TUN AW D’ANBUN TUREEDU AN TU—A’D’D’IBANEE BIHI YAWMA ALQAAKA

F) Recite the following dua’a:

O Director of (all) affairs, O Resurrector of the dead (resting in graves), O He who makes rivers flow, O He who Softened the iron for Dawood, send blessings on Muhammad and on the children of Muhammad.

  

YAA MADABBIRAL UMOOR YAA BAA—I’THA MAN FIL QUBOOR YAA MUJRIYAL BUH’OOR YAA MULAYYINAL H’ADEEDI LI—DAWOOD S’AALI A’LAA MUH’AAMADIN WA AALI MUH’AMMAD

Then Say:

WAF—A’LBEE

And do for me (mention your legitimate desires)

G) Sayyid bin Taa-oos (R.A.) reports that Imam Jafar As Sadiq (as) had advised to recite the following dua’a on the last night:

O Allah let not my days of fasting in (this) month of Ramazan be the last obligation (end of my life term). I take refuge with Thee lest the dawn of this night breaks forth without me having been positively forgiven.

  

ALLAHUMMA LA TAJ—A’LHU AAKHIRAL A’H’DI MIN S’IYAAMEE LI—SHAHRI RAMAZ”AAN WA A—O’OD’U BIKA AN YAT’LU—A’FAJRU HAAD’IHIL LAYLATI ILLAA WA QAD GHAFARTA LEE

 

H) Sayyid ibna Taa-oos (R.A.) and Kaf-a’mee (R.A.) reports that the Holy Prophet (S.A.) had advised to pray a 10 Rak-a’t Salaat, in 5 sets of two Rak-a’t each, on the last night of this month, as under:-

(i) In every Rak-a’t, after the reicitation of Soorah Al Faatih’ah, recite Soorah Al Ikhlaas 10 times.

(ii) In every “Rukoo” and “Sajdah” recite the following 10 times:

O Ever-Alive, O Eternal, O Owner of majesty and kindness, O He who is kind enough to have compassion for one and all in this world and in the Hereafter, and to have mercy upon His servants in both the worlds, O the Most Merciful, O God of mankind from the beginning to the end, forgive our wrongdoings, and accept our obligatory and optional prayers and fasts.

  

YAA H’AYY YAA QAYYOOM YAA D’AL JALAALI WAL IKRAAM YAA RAH’MAANAD DUNYAA WAL AAKHIRAH WA RAH’EEMAHUMAA YAA ARH’AMAR RAAH’IMEEN YAA ILAAHAL AWWALEENA WAL AAHIREEN IGHFIRLANAA D’UNOOBANAA WA TAQABBAL MINNAA S’ALAATANAA WAS’IYAAMANAA WA QIYAAMNAA

I) Usually the recitation of the Holy Quran is completed tonight.& this dua read Completion of Quran

J) Du'a to bid farewell to Ramadhan (Taught by Imam Ja'far as-Sadiq (a) )  ALternative line by line text

In the name of Allah, the beneficent, the Merciful, O Allah, bless Muhammad and his family,

O Allah, You have said in Your revealed book, Month of Ramadhan in which the Qur'an was revealed. (2:185)

And now this month of Ramadhan, has completed, so I beseech You, by Your Noble countenance, and Your perfect words, if there is any sin on me which You have not forgiven, or which You want to punish me for, or take me to account for, I beseech You) to not let this night pass, nor this month be completed, except that You have forgiven me,

O most Merciful of the mercifuls. O Allah for You is all praise, for all Your praiseworthy acts, the first of them, and the last of them, what You have said of it for Yourself, and what the creatures have said, the praisers, the strugglers, the few, those who have fulfilled Your rememberance and Your praise, those whom You have helped to fulfill Your right, from among Your various creation, of the near angels, and the Prophets, and the Messengers. And the various uttererrs and those who glorify You, from all of the worlds.

You have made the month of Ramadhan reach us, and given us of Your bounties, and we have Your provision and Your favour, and Your apparent blessings So for that is ultimate praise for You, (Praise which is) forever, continuous, tranquil, infinitely) eternal, which does not finish for all times, exalted be Your praise.You helped us in it, until You fulfilled in it for us its fasts and the rising for prayers in it, and whatever we did in it of good, gratitude and remembrance. 
O Allah, accept it from us with, Your most gracious acceptance, Your overlooking (the faults), your pardon, Your forgiveness, and Your true pleasure, until You make us triumphant in it, with every desired good, and generous giving. And protect us in it from every feared thing, or drawn affliction, or earned sin. O Allah, I beseech You of the greatest of what anyone of Your creation has beseeched You. from Your Noble names, and Your beautiful praise, and Your special prayers, bless Muhammad and his family, and make this month of Ramadhan, the greatest month of Ramadhan ever passed for us, since we came down to the world, in the protection of my religion, and sincerity of my soul, and the fulfillment of my wishes and completion of benefits on me, and removal of evil from me, and the garment of health for me in it, and make me, by Your mercy, from those for whom You have kept the night of Power, and for whom You have made it better than a thousand nights, through great reward, stored magnanimity, and gracious gratitude, and long life, and continuous ease.

O Allah, I beseech You, from Your mercy, Your power, Your pardon, your favour, Your sublimity, and your favours and graces of old, not to let this be our last Ramadhan, until You make us reach the next (Ramadhan) in the best of condition and make us know its crescent with those who witness it and recognize it, in the best of health from You, the best of Your bounties, the most abundant of Your mercy, and the best of reward in Your decree.

My Lord, He who there is no Lord for me other than Him, do not let this farewell [of Ramadhan] be the farewell of termination, nor the final covenant from me till the meeting [at death] until You have shown me from the coming [Ramadhan] through abundance of blessings, the best of hopes, and I am most loyal to you, Surely You listen to the prayer. 

O Allah, hear my supplication, and have mercy on my submissiveness, and my humbleness to you, and my dependence and reliance on You.

I am submissive to You, I do not hope for success, except through You and from You, so be generous to me, exalted is Your praise, holy are Your names, through the reaching of the month of Ramadhan, and making me free of every disliked thing, every danger, and all misfortunes. 
All praise is for Allah, who helped us with the fasts of this month, and the rising in it (for prayer) until the last night from it has reached us.

  اللهم إنك قلت في كتابك المنزل ، على لسان نبيك المرسل ، صلواتك عليه ، وقولك حق) : شهر رمضان الذي انزل فيه القرآن ( . وهذا شهر رمضان قد تصرم ، فأسألك بوجهك الكريم وكلماتك التامة ، إن كان بقي علي ذنب لم تغفره لي ، أو تريد أن تعذبني عليه ، أو تقايسني به أن يطلع فجر هذه الليلة ، أو ينصرم هذا الشهر إلا وقد غفرته لي ، يا أرحم الراحمين .
اللهم لك الحمد بمحامدك كلها ، أولها وآخرها ، وما قلت لنفسك منها ، وما قاله لك الخلائق ،الحامدون المجتهدون المعدودن ، المؤثرون في ذكرك وشكرك ، الذين أعنتهم على أداء حقك من أصناف خلقك ، من الملائكة المقربين والنبيين والمرسلين ، وأصناف الناطقين المسبحين لك من جميع العالمين ، على أنك بلغتنا شهر رمضان ، وعلينا من نعمك ، وعندنا من قسمك وإحسانك وتظاهر امتنانك . فبذلك لك منتهى الحمد ، الخالد الدائم الراكد المخلد السرمد ، الذي لا ينفد طول الأبد ، جل ثناؤك ، وأعنتنا عليه حتى قضيت عنا صيامه ، وقيامه من صلاة ، وما كان منا فيه من بر أو نسك أو ذكر .
اللهم فتقبله منا بأحسن قبولك ، وتجاوزك وعفوك ، وصفحك وغفرانك ، وحقيقة رضوانك ، حتى تظفرنا فيه بكل خير مطلوب ، وجزيل عطاء موهوب ، تؤمنا فيه من كل أمر مرهوب وذنب مكسوب . اللهم إني أسألك بعظيم ما سألك أحد من خلقك من كريم أسمائك ، وجزيل ثنائك ، وخاصة دعائك ، أن تصلي على محمد وآل محمد ، وأن تجعل شهرنا هذا أعظم شهر رمضان مر علينا منذ أنزلتنا إلى الدنيا بركة في عصمة ديني ، وخلاص نفسي ، وقضاء حاجتي ، وتشفيعي في مسائلي ، وتمام النعمة علي ، وصرف السوء عني ، ولباس العافية لي وأن تجعلني برحمتك ممن حزت له ليلة القدر ، وجعلتها له خيرا من ألف شهر من أعظم الأجر ، وكرائم الذخر ، وطول العمر ، وحسن الشكر ، ودوام اليسر .
اللهم وأسألك برحمتك وطولك ، وعفوك ونعمائك وجلالك ، وقديم إحسانك وامتنانك ، وأن لا تجعله آخر العهد منا لشهر رمضان ، حتى تبلغناه من قابل على أحسن حال ، وتعرفني هلاله مع الناظرين إليه ، والمتعرفين له ، في أعفى عافيتك وأتم نعمتك ، وأوسع رحمتك ، وأجزل قسمك . اللهم يا ربي الذي ليس لي رب غيره ، ولا يكون هذا الوداع مني وداع فناء ، ولا آخر العهد من اللقاء ، حتى ترينيه من قابل في أسبغ النعم ، وأفضل الرجاء ، وأنالك على أحسن الوفاء إنك سميع الدعاء .
اللهم اسمع دعائي ، وارحم تضرعي وتذللي لك ، واستكانتي وتوكلي عليك ، فأنا لك سلم ، ولا أرجو نجاحا ، وبلا معافاة ولا تشريفا ولا تبليغا ، إلا بك ومنك . فامنن علي جل ثناؤك ، وتقدست أسماؤك بتبليغي شهر رمضان ، وأنا معافى من كل مكروه ومحذور ، ومن جميع البوائق . الحمد لله الذي أعاننا على صيام هذا الشهر وقيامه ، حتى بلغنا آخر ليلة منه !!

Transliteration:   Allahumma innaka quita fly kitabika almunzali: “shah ramadana alladhly unzila fihi alqur’anu.”
 
wahadha shahru ramadhana waqad tasarrama  fasaluka biuajhika alkarimi  wakalimatika alttammati  in kana baqia ‘alayya dhanbun lam taghfirhu li
aw turidu an tu’adhdhibaniy ‘alayhi  aw tuqayisaniy bihi an la yatlu’a fajru hadhihii allaylati aw yatasarramu hdha alshshahru illa waqad ghafartahu li  ya arhama alrrahimina.
 
allahumma laka alhamdu bimahamidika kulliha wwaliha wa-akhiriha  aa qulta linafsika minha  wama qala alkhaiiqu alhamiduna  almujtahiduna alma’ duduna
almuwaqqiruna dhikrika  walshshukra laka  alladhina a’ antahum  ‘ala ada’I haqqika  min asnafi khalika  mina almalaiikati almugarrabina  walnnabiyyina walmursalina wa-asnafi alnnatiqina walmusabbihina laka min jami’I al’ alamina ala annaka ballaghtana shahra ramadana wa’ alayna min ni’ amika wa’ indana min qisamika waihsanika watazhahuri imtinanika fabidhalika laka muntaha alhamdi alkhalidi alddaiimi alrrakidi almukhalladi alssarmadi alladhy la yanfadu tuwala alabadi jalla thanau’ ka a’ antana ‘alayhi hatta qadayna syamahu waqyamahu min salatin wama kana minna fihi min birrin aw shukrin aw dhikrin.
 
allahumma fataqabbalhu minna biahsani qabulika  watajauuzika wa’ afuika wasafhika waghufranika wahaqiqati riduanika hatta tuzhfirana fihi bikulli khayrin matlubin
wajaziili ‘ata’in mawhuwbin watuwaqqiana fihi min kulli marhubin aw bala’in majlubin aw dhanbin maksubin.  allahumma inny asaluka bi’ azhimi ma
sa-alaka bihi ahadun min khalqika min karimi asmaiika wajamili thanaiika waknassati du ’a’ika an tusallia ‘ala muhammadin wa-ali muhammadin
wa-an taj’ ala shahrana hadha a’zhama shahri ramadana marra ‘alayna mundhu aunzilna ila alddunya barakatan fy ‘ismati dini
wakhalasi nafsi waqada’I hawa’iji watushaffi’ aniy fy masa’ili watamami alnni’ mati ‘alayya wasarfi alssu’I ‘anni walibasi al’ afiati ly fihi wan taj’ alany birahmatika mimman khirta lahu laylata alqadri waja ‘altaha lahu khayran min alfi shahrin fy azhami alajri
wakaraiimi aldhdhukhri wahusni alshshukri watuli al’umri wadawami aliusri.
 
allahumma wasaluka birahmatika watawlika  wa’ afuika wana’ maiika wajalalika waqdimi ihsanika wamtinanika an la taj’ ilahu akhira al’ ahdi minna lishahri ramadana hatta tuballighanahu min qabilin ‘ala ahsani halin watu’ arrifany hilalahu ma’a alnnazhirina ilayhi walmu’ tarifina lahu fy a’fa ‘afiatika
wan’ ami ni’ matika wa’awsa’i rahmatika wajzali qisamika ya rabbia alladhy laysa ly rabbun ghayruhu la yakunu hadha aluada’ u minny lahu
wada’a fana’in wala akhira al’ahdi minny lilliqa’I hatta turiannihi min qabilin fy awsa’I alnni’ami wafdali alrraja’I wana laka ‘ala ahsani aluafa’I
innaka sami’ u alddu’ a’i.
 
allahumma asma’ du’ai warham tadarru’y watadhalluly laka wastikanatly watawakkuly ‘alayka wana laka musallimun
la arjw najahan wala mu’ afatan wala tashrifan wala tablighan illa bika waminka famnuim ‘alayya
jalla thanau ‘ka wataqaddasat asmau ‘ka bitablighy shahra ramadana wana mu’ afan min kulli makruhin wamahdhurin
wamin jami’i albawa’iqi, alhamdu lillahi alladhy a’anana ‘ala syami hadha alshshahri waqyamihi hatta ballaghany akhira laylatin minhu.

K.It is recommended to say the previously mentioned supplication that begins with the following:

يَا مُدَبّرَ الأُمُورِ،

  

O the Director of all affairs;

يَا بَاعِثَ مَنْ فِي القُبُورِ،

  

O the Resurrector of all those in graves;

يَا مُجْرِيَ البُحُورِ،

  

O He Who causes oceans to flow;

يَا مُلَيّنَ الحَدِيدِ لِدَاوُدَ

  

O He Who made the iron pliant for (Prophet) David;

صَلّ عَلَى مُحَمّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمّدٍ…

  

(Please) send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad…

L. Sayyid Ibn Tawus has reported Imam Ja`far al-Sadiq (a.s) as saying: As for anyone who bids farewell to the month of Ramazan with the following supplication, Almighty Allah will forgive him before morning and will confer upon him with the bliss of submission before Him (i.e. Almighty Allah):

اللّهُمّ لا تَجْعَلْهُ آخِرَ العَهْدِ من صِيَامِي لِشَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ،

allahumma la taj`alhu akhira al`ahdi mn siyamy lishahri ramazana

O Allah: (please) do not decide my observance of fasting in this month of Ramazan to be the last of my observance of fasting.

وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ يَطْلُعَ فَجْرُ هذِهِ اللّيْلَةِ إِلاَّ وَقَدْ غَفَرْتَ لِي

wa a`udhu bika an ya§lu`a fajru hadhihi allaylati illa wa qad ghafarta le

And I seek Your protection against that this day dawns before You shall forgive me.

Sayyid Ibn Tawus and Shaykh al-Saduq have both narrated the following on the authority of Jabir ibn `Abdullah al-Ansariy:

I visited the Messenger of Allah (a.s) on the last Friday of Ramazan. As he saw me, he said, “Jabir: This is the last Friday of Ramazan. You should thus bid it farewell by saying the following:

اللّهُمّ لا تَجْعَلهُ آخِرَ العَهْدِ مِنْ صِيَامِنَا إِيَّاهُ

allahumma la taj`alhu akhira al`ahdi min siyamina iyyahu

O Allah: (please) do not make it the last of our fasting in this month;

فَإِنْ جَعَلْتَهُ فَاجْعَلْنِي مَرْحُوماً وَلا تَجْعَلْنِي مَحْرُوماً.

fa-in ja`altahu faj`alny marhuman wa la taj`alny mahruman

but if You decide so, then (please) make me enjoy (Your) mercy and do not make me deprived (of it).

Verily, anyone who says this supplication will win one of the two good things; either attaining the next Ramazan or having the forgiveness and mercy of Almighty Allah.”

M. Sayyid Ibn Tawus and al-Kaf`amiy have reported the Holy Prophet (a.s) as saying, “At the last night of Ramazan, one may offer a prayer consisting of ten Rak`ahs at each of which Surah or al-Fatihah is recited once and Surah of al-Tawhed is repeated ten times. In the Ruku` (genuflection of the prayer) and Sujud (prostration of the prayer), the following invocation (namely al-Tasbehat al-Arba`ah) may be repeated ten times:

سُبْحَانَ اللّهِ،

subhana allahi,

All glory be to Allah;

وَالْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ،

walhamdu lillahi,

all praise be to Allah;

وَلا إلهَ إلاَّ اللّهُ،

wa la ilaha illa allahu,

there is no god save Allah;

وَاللّهُ أَكْبَرُ.

wallahu akbaru,

Allah is the Greatest.

After each couple of Rak`ahs, one may recite the Tashahhud and Taslem. After the accomplishment of the ten Rak`ahs, one may recite the Taslem and say the following supplication of seeking forgiveness one Thousand times:

I seek the forgiveness of Allah and I repent before Him.

astaghfiru allaha wa atubu ilayhi

أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللّهَ وَأَتُوبُ إلَيْهِ.

After that, one may prostrate and say the following:

يَا حَيّ يَا قَيّومُ،

ya hayyu ya qayyumu

O Ever-Alive, O Eternal,

يَا ذَا الجَلالِ وَالإِكرَامِ،

ya dhaljalali wal-ikrami

O the Lord of Majesty and Honor.

يَارَحْمَانَ الدّنيَا وَالآخِرَةِ وَرَحِيمَهُمَا،

yarahmana alddunya wal-akhirati wa rahemahuma

O the All-beneficent of this world and the Next World and the All-merciful of them;

يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ،

ya arhama alrrahimena

O the most Merciful of all those who show mercy.

يَاإِلهَ الأَوّلِينَ وَالآخِرِينَ،

ya ilah al-awwalena wal-akhirena

O the God of the past and the coming generations;

اغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا،

aghfir lana dhunubana

(Please) forgive us our sins,

وَتَقَبّلْ مِنَّا صَلاتَنَا وَصِيَامَنَا وَقِيَامَنَا.

wa taqabbl minna salatana wa siyamana wa qiyamana

And accept our prayers, fasting, and worship.

The Holy Prophet (a.s) then continues, “I swear by Him Who has sent me with the truth as Prophet; Archangel Gabriel has reported to me from Archangel Israfel who directly reports from Almighty Allah that one who offers that prayer will not raise his head from prostration before Almighty Allah would forgive him, accept his acts during the month of Ramazan, and overlooks his sins... etc.”

Supplication of the Thirtieth Night of Ramazan

الحَمْدُ لِلّهِ كَمَا يَنْبَغِي لِكَرَمِ وَجْهِهِ وَعِزّ جَلالِهِ وَكَمَا هُوَ أَهْلُهُ،

alhamdu lillahi kama yanbaghy likarami wajhihi wa `izzi jalalihi wa kama huwa ahluhu

All praise be to Allah  as is suiting the nobility of His Face and the mighty of His Majesty and as it befits Him.

يَا قُدّوسُ يَا نُورُ،

ya quddusu ya nuru

O the All-holy; O the Light;

يَا نُورَ القُدْسِ،

ya nura alqudsi

O the Light of holiness;

يَا سُبّوحُ، يَا مُنْتَهَى التّسْبِيحِ،

ya subbuhu ya muntaha alttasbehi

O the Glorified; O the ultimate goal of glorification;

يَا رَحْمَانُ، يَا فَاعِلَ الرّحْمَةِ،

ya rahmanu ya fa`ila alrrahmati

O the All-beneficent; O the Doer of mercy;

يَا اللّهُ، يَا عَلِيمُ،

ya allahu ya `alemu

O Allah; O the All-knowing;

يَا كَبِيرُ، يَا اللّهُ،

ya kaberu ya allahu

O the All-big; O Allah;

يَا لَطِيفُ، يَا جَلِيلُ،

ya la§efu ya jalelu

O the All-aware; O the All-majestic;

يَا اللّهُ، يَا سَمِيعُ، يَا بَصِيرُ،

ya allahu ya same`u ya baseru

O Allah; O the All-hearing; O the All-seeing

يَا اللّهُ يَا اللّهُ يَا اللّهُ

ya allahu ya allahu ya allahu

O Allah; O Allah; O Allah;

لَكَ الأَسْمَاءُ الحُسْنَى،

laka alasma‘u alhusna

To You are the Most Excellent Names,

وَالأَمْثَالُ العُلْيَا،

wal-amthalu al`ulea

And the most elevated examples,

وَالكِبْرِيَاءُ وَالآلاءُ،

wal-kibrya‘u wal-ala‘u

And greatness and bounties.

أَسْأَلُكَ أَنْ تُصَلّيَ عَلَى مُحَمّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمّدٍ،

as’aluka an tusalliya `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin

I beseech You to bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

وَأَنْ تَجْعَلَ اسْمِي فِي هذِهِ اللّيْلَةِ فِي السّعَدَاءِ،

wa an taj`ala asmy fe hadhihi allaylati fe alssu`ada‘i

And to include my name with the list of the happiest ones,

وَرُوحِي مَعَ الشّهَدَاءِ،

wa ruhy ma`a alshshuhada‘i

And to add my soul to the martyrs,

وَإِحْسَانِي فِي عِلّيّينَ،

wa ihsany fe `illiyyena

And record my good deeds in the most exalted rank

وَإِسَاءَتِي مَغْفُورَةً،

wa isa‘aty maghfuratan

And to decide my offense to be forgiven,

وَأَنْ تَهَبَ لِي يَقِيناً تُبَاشِرُ بِهِ قَلْبِي،

wa an tahaba le yaqenan tubashiru bihi qalbe

And to grant me certitude that fills in my heart

وَإِيمَاناً يُذْهِبُ الشّكّ عَنّي،

wa ‘emanan yudhhibu alshshkk `anne

And faith that removes dubiosity from me

وَتُرْضِيَنِي بِمَا قَسَمْتَ لِي،

wa turziyany bima qasamta le

And to make me feel satisfied with that which You decide for me

وَآتِنَا فِي الدّنْيَا حَسَنَةً،

wa atina fe alddunya hasanatan

And (please) grant us reward in this world

وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً،

wa fe alakhirati hasanatan

And reward in the Hereafter,

وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ الحَرِيقِ،

wa qina `adhaba alnnari alhareqi

And save us from the torment of the buring Fire,

وَارْزُقْنِي فِيهَا ذِكْرَكَ وَشُكْرَكَ وَالرّغْبَةَ إِلَيْكَ،

warzuqny feha dhikraka wa shukraka wal-rraghbata ilayka

And (also) confer upon us at this night Your mentioning, thanking You, and desiring for You,

وَالإِنَابَةَ وَالتّوْفِيقَ لِمَا وَفّقْتَ لَهُ مُحَمّداً وَآلَ مُحَمّدٍ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَيْهِمُ السّلامُ.

wal-inabata wal-ttawfeqa lima waffaqta lahu muhammadan wa ala muhammadin `alayhi wa `alayhimu alssalamu

And turning to You, and success to that to which You led Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad, peace be upon him and them.


 

The Thirtieth of Ramazan

For the last day of Ramazan, Sayyid Ibn Tawus has mentioned the following supplication: This supplication is quoted from Iqbal al-A`mal 1:446.

اَللّهُمَّ إنَّكَ أرْحَمُ الرّاحِمينَ

Allahumma innaka arhamu alrrahimena

O Allah: verily, You are the most Merciful of all those who show mercy.

لا إلهَ إلاّ أنْتَ،

la ilaha illa anta,

There is no god save You.

تَفَضَّلْتَ عَلَيْنا فَهَدَيْتَنا،

tafazzalta `alayna fahadaytana,

You have done us the favor of guiding us (to the true path)

وَمَنَنْتَ عَلَيْنا فَعَرَّفْتَنا،

wa mananta `alayna fa`arraftana,

And You have bestowed upon us with the favor of making us recognize You,

وَأحْسَنْتَ إلَيْنا فَأعَنْتَنا عَلى أداءِ ما افْتَرَضْتَ عَلَيْنا

wa ahsanta ilayna faa`antana `ala ada‘i ma aftarazta `alayna

And You have done us the grace of helping us carry out that which You have made obligatory upon us,

مِنْ صِيامِ شَهْرِكَ شَهْرِ رَمَضانَ.

min siyami shahrika shahri ramazana.

Which is the observance of fasting during Your month; the month of Ramazan.

فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ بِمَحامِدِكَ كُلِّها

falaka alhamdu bimahamidika kulliha

So, all praise be to You with the all forms of praising You,

عَلى جَميعِ نَعْمائِكَ كُلِّها،

`ala jame`i na`maiika kulliha,

For all of Your bounties,

حَتّى يَنْتَهِيَ الْحَمْدُ إلى ما تُحِبُّ وَتَرْضى

hatte yantahiea alhamdu ile ma tuhibbu wa tarze

So that praise will attain the stage that You like and please.

وَهذا آخِرُ يَوْمٍ مِنْ شَهْرِ رَمَضانَ

wa hadha akhiru yawmin min shahri ramazana

And this is the last day in the month of Ramazan;

فَإذا انْقَضى فَاخْتِمْهُ لَنا بِالسَّعادَةِ وَالرَّحْمَةِ وَالمَغْفِرَةِ،

faidha anqaze faakhtimhu lana bialssa`adati wa alrrahmaati wa almaghfirati,

If ite lapses, then (please) seal it for us with happiness and mercy and forgiveness

وَالرِّزْقِ الواسِعِ الكَثيرِ الطَّيِّبِ،

wa alrrizqi aluasi`i alka§heri al§§ayyibi,

And sustenance that is expansive, abundant and pleasant,

الَّذي لا حِسابَ فيهِ وَلا عَذابَ عَلَيهِ،

alladhy la hisaba fehi wa la `adhaba `alayhi,

For which You will not settle an account with nor will You torture us,

وَالبَرَكَةِ وَالفَوْزِ وَالفَوْزِ بِالجَنَّةِ،

wa albarakaati wa alfawzi wa alfawzi bialjannaati,

And (also) blessing and triumph and winning Paradise

وَالعِتْقِ مِنَ النّارِ،

wa al`itqi mina alnnari,

And release from Hellfire.

وَلا تَجْعَلْهُ آخِرَ العَهْدِ مِنْهُ،

wa la taj`alhu akhira al`ahdi minhu,

And (please) do not decide this month to be the last one in our lifetimes,

وَأهِلَّهُ عَلَينا بِأفْضَلِ الْخَيْرِ وَالبَرَكَةِ وَالسُّرورِ

wa ahillahu `alayna bi-afzali alkhayri wa albarakaati wa alssururi

And (please) make the (coming) month to commence carrying to us the best of goodness and blessing and pleasure

عَلَيَّ وَعَلى أَهْلي وَوالِدَيَّ وَذُرِّيَّتي يا كَريمُ.

`alayya wa `ala aahly wa walidayya wa dhurrieeaty ya karemu.

For me and for my family (i.e. wife) and for my parents and for my offspring; O the All-generous (Lord).

اَللّهُمَّ هذا شَهْرُ رَمَضانَ

aalllhumma hadha shahru ramazana

O Allah: This is the month of Ramazan,

الَّذي أنْزَلْتَ فيهِ القُرْآنَ

alladhy anzalta fehi alqurana

In which You revealed the Qur'an

هُدىً لِلنّاسِ وَبَيِّناتٍ مِن الهُدى وَالفُرْقانِ

hudean lilnnasi wa bayyinatin min alhude wa alfurqani

As guidance for people and as clear proofs of true guidance and distinction (between the right and the wrong).

وَقَدْ تَصَرَّمَ،

waqad tasarrama,

And it has come to its end;

فَأعوذُ بِوَجْهِكَ الكَريمِ أنْ تَغيبَ الشَّمْسُ مِنْ هذا اليَوْمِ،

faa`udhu biuajhika alkaremi an tagheba alshshamsu min hadha aleawmi,

Therefore, I seek the protection of Your Noble Face against that the sun sets on this day

أوْ يَطْلُعَ الفَجْرُ مِنْ هذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ،

aw ya§lu`a alfajru min hdhihi alllaylaati,

Or dawn rises to put end to this night

وَلَكَ قِبَلي ذَنْبٌ أوْ تَبِعَةٌ،

wa laka qibaly dhanbun aw tabi`aatun,

But I am still liable for a sin or an offense

تُريدُ أنْ تُعَذِّبَني عَلَيْها يَومَ ألْقاكَ.

turedu an tu`adhdhibany `alayha yawma alqaka.

And You want to punish me for it on the day when I will meet You.

أيْ مُلَيِّنَ الْحَديدِ لِداوُدَ،

ay mulayyina alhadedi lidawuda,

O He Who made the iron pliant for (Prophet) David;

أيْ كاشِفَ الْكَرْبِ الْعَظِيمِ عَنْ أيُّوبَ،

ay kashifa alkarbi al`azhiemi `an ayyuwba,

O He Who removed the great agony from (Prophet) Job;

صَلِّ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلى أهْلِ بَيْتِ مُحَمَّدٍ

salli `ala muhammadin wa `ala ahli bayti muhammadin

(please) send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad

وَهَبْ لي فِكاكَ رَقَبَتي مِنَ النّارِ

wa hab ly fikaka raqabaty mina alnnari

And grant me release from Hellfire

وَكُلَّ تَبِعَةٍ وَذَنْبٍ لَكَ قِبَلي،

wa kulla tabi`aatin wa dhanbin laka qibale,

And from all offenses and sins for which I am liable before You

وَاخْتِمْ لي بِالرِّضا وَالْجَنَّةِ.

wakhtim ly bilrriza waljannati.

And (please) seal my life with Your satisfaction and Paradise.

يا اَللهُ يا أرْحَمَ الرّاحِمينَ،

ya aallhu ya arhama alrrahimena,

O Allah: O the most Merciful of all those who show mercy;

صَلِّ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلى أهْلِ بَيْتِهِ الْمُبارَكِينَ الأخْيارِ

salli `ala muhammadin wa`ala ahli baytihi almubarakiena al-akhyari

(please) send blessings upon Muhammad and upon his Household—the blessed and the virtuous—

وَسَلِّمْ تَسْليماً.

wa sallim tasleman.

And shower upon them thorough greeting.

Recite supplication that is reported by Shaykh al-Tusiy from Imam `Ale Amer al-Mu'minen (a.s):

اللّهُمّ اشْرَحْ بِالقُرْآنِ صَدْرِي،

allahumma ashrah bilqur’ani sadre

O Allah: (please) expand my breast through the Qur'an 

وَاسْتَعْمِلْ بِالقُرْآنِ بَدَنِي،

wasta`mil bilqur’ani badane

And use my body for the Qur'an

وَنَوّرْ بِالقُرْآنِ بَصَرِي،

wa nawwir bilqur’ani basare

And enlighten my sight by the Qur'an

وَأَطْلِقْ بِالقُرْآنِ لِسَانِي،

wa a§liq bilqur’ani lisane

And make my tongue eloquent by the Qur'an

وَأَعِنّي عَلَيْهِ مَا أَبْقَيْتَنِي

wa a`inne `alayhi ma abqaytany

And help me carry out its duty as long as You keep me alive,

فَإِنّهُ لا حَوْلَ وَلا قُوّةَ إِلاَّ بِكَ.

fa’innahu la hawla wa la quwwata illa bika

For there is neither power nor might save with You.

It is recommended, too, to say the following supplication that is reported from Imam `Ale Amer al-Mu'minen (a.s):

اللّهُمّ إِنّي أَسْأَلُكَ إِخْبَاتَ المُخْبِتِينَ،

allahumma inne as’aluka ikhbata almukhbitena

O Allah: I do beseech You for the humbleness of those who humble themselves before You;

وَإِخْلاصَ المُوقِنِينَ،

wa ikhlasa almuqinena

and for the sincerity of those possessing certainty;

وَمُرَافَقَةَ الأَبْرَارِ،

wa murafaqata alabrari

and for the companionship of the pious ones;

وَاسْتِحْقَاقَ حَقَائِقِ الاِيمَانِ،

wastihqaqa haqa’iqi al’emani

and for the worthiness of the truths of faith;

وَالغَنِيمَةَ مِنْ كُلّ بِرّ،

wal-ghanemata min kulli birrin

and for gaining a share of all pious deeds;

وَالسّلامَةَ مِنْ كُلّ إِثْمٍ،

wal-ssalamata min kulli ithmin

and for safety from all sins;

وَوُجُوبَ رَحْمَتِكَ،

wa wujuba rahmatika

and for the merit of Your mercy;

وَعَزَائِمَ مَغْفِرَتِكَ،

wa `aza’ima maghfiratika

and for the qualifications of winning Your forgiveness;

وَالفَوْزَ بِالجَنّةِ،

wal-fawza biljannati

and for winning Paradise;

وَالنّجَاةَ مِنَ النَّارِ.

wal-nnajata mina alnnari

and for salvation from Hellfire.

اَللّهُمَّ إنَّكَ قُلْتَ فِي كِتابِكَ الْمُنْزَلِ:

allahumma innaka qulta fiy kitabika almunzali:

O Allah: You have said in Your revealed Book:

”شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ الَّذِي أُنزِلَ فِيهِ الْقُرْآنُ.“

“shahru rama¤ana alladhiy unzila fehi alqur’anu.”

“The month of Rama¤an in which the Qur'an was revealed…”

وَهذَا شَهْرُ رَمَضانَ

wahadha shahru rama¤ana

And this month of Rama¤an

وَقَدْ تَصَرَّمَ

waqad tasarrama

is about to slip away.

فَأسْألُكَ بِوَجْهِكَ الْكَرِيمِ

fasaluka biwajhika alkaremi

I thus beseech You in the name of Your Noble Face,

وَكَلِماتِكَ التّامَّةِ

wakalimatika alttammati

And Your Perfect Words,

إنْ كانَ بَقِيَ عَلَيَّ ذَنْبٌ لَمْ تَغْفِرْهُ لي

in kana baqea `alayya dhanbun lam taghfirhu le

If I am still liable to a sin that You have not yet forgiven

أوْ تُرِيدُ أنْ تُعَذِّبَنِي عَلَيْهِ

aw turedu an tu`adhdhibaniy `alayhi

or You want to punish me for it,

أوْ تُقايِسَنِي بِهِ

aw tuqayisaniy bihi

or to retaliate upon me because of it,

أنْ لا يَطْلُعَ فَجْرُ هَذِهِ اللَيْلَةِ

an la yatllu`a fajru hadhihii allaylati

(I beseech You that) before dawn of this night rises

أوْ يَتَصَرَّمُ هذا الشَّهْرُ

aw yatasarramu hdha alshshahru

And before this moth elapses

إلاَّ وَقَدْ غَفَرْتَهُ لي

illa waqad ghafartahu le

(please) forgive it for me;

يا أرْحَمَ الرّاحِمِينَ.

ya arhama alrrahimena.

O the most Merciful of all those who show mercy.

اَللّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ بِمَحامِدِكَ كُلِّها

allahumma laka alhamdu bimahamidika kulliha

O Allah: all praise be to You in all expressions of praise—

أوَّلِها وَآخِرِها

awwaliha wa-akhiriha

The first and the last expressions;

ما قُلْتَ لِنَفْسِكَ مِنْها

ma qulta linafsika minha

Expressions that You have said about Yourself,

وَما قالَ الْخَلائِقُ الْحامِدونَ

wama qala alkhalaiiqu alhamidwna

And expressions that have been used by the created beings;

الْمُجْتَهِدونَ الْمَعْدودونَ

almujtahidwna alma`dwdwna

The beings that are diligent, selected,

الْمُوَقِّرونَ ذِكْرِكَ

almuwaqqirwna dhikrika

Revering their mention of You,

وَالشُّكْرَ لَكَ

walshshukra laka

And their thanking You,

الَّذينَ أعَنْتَهُمْ عَلى أداءِ حَقِّكَ

alladhena a`antahum `ala ada‘i haqqika

Whom You helped carry out Your duty that is incumbent upon them,

مِنْ أصْنافِ خَلْقِكَ

min asnafi khalqika

From among the varieties of Your creatures;

مِنَ الْمَلائِكَةِ الْمُقَرَّبينَ

mina almalaiikati almuqarrabena

Such as the Favorite Angels,

وَالنَّبِيِّينَ وَالْمُرْسَلِينَ

walnnabiyyena walmursalena

The Prophets, the Messengers,

وَأصْنافِ النّاطِقينَ

wa-asnafi alnnatliqena

And the other varieties who speak of Your praise

وَالْمُسَبِّحِينَ لَكَ مِنْ جَمِيعِ الْعالَمِينَ

walmusabbihena laka min jame`i al`alamena

And glorify You from among all the creatures.

عَلى أنَّكَ بَلَّغْتَنا شَهْرَ رَمَضانَ

`ala annaka ballaghtana shahra rama¤ana

(Praise be to You for) You have allowed us to witness the month of Rama¤an,

وَعَلَيْنا مِنْ نِعَمِكَ

wa`alayna min ni`amika

While we are covered by Your graces

وَعِنْدَنا مِنْ قِسَمِكَ وَإحْسانِكَ

wa`indana min qisamika waihsanika

And we are enjoying Your bounties and favors

وَتَظاهُرِ إمْتِنانِكَ

watazhahuri imtinanika

And Your evident conferrals.

فَبِذَلِكَ لَكَ مُنْتَهى الْحَمْدِ

fabidhalika laka muntaha alhamdi

For all that, the ultimate praise be to You,

الْخالِدِ الدّائِمِ

alkhalidi alddaiimi

Praise that is perpetual and ceaseless

الرّاكِدِ الْمُخَلَّدِ السَّرْمَدِ

alrrakidi almukhalladi alssarmadi

And endless and eternal and everlasting

الَّذي لا يَنْفَدُ طُولَ الأبَدِ

alladhy la yanfadu tluwla alabadi

Praise that never ends evermore.

جَلَّ ثَناؤكَ

jalla tlhanau´ka

Splendid be the praising of You,

أعَنْتَنا عَلَيْهِ حَتّى قَضَيْنا صِيامَهُ وَقِيامَهُ

a`antana `alayhi hatta qa¤ayna syamahu waqyamahu

For You have helped us accomplish our fasting and acts of worship in this month,

مِنْ صَلاةٍ وَما كانَ مِنّا فيهِ مِنْ بِرٍّ

min salatin wama kana minna fehi min birrin

Including prayers and whatever good deed that we have done during this month

أوْ شُكْرٍ أوْ ذِكْرٍ.

aw shukrin aw dhikrin.

As well as all praise and mention of You.

اَللّهُمَّ فَتَقَبَّلْهُ مِنّا بِأحْسَنِ قَبولِكَ

allahumma fataqabbalhu minna biahsani qabwlika

O Allah: (please) accept all that from us with the most excellent of Your approval

وَتَجاوُزِكَ وَعَفْوِكَ

watajawuzika wa`afwika

And Your overlooking and Your pardoning

وَصَفْحِكَ وَغُفْرانِكَ

wasafhika waghufranika

And Your excusing and Your forgiving

وَحَقِيقَةِ رِضْوانِكَ

wahaqeqati ri¤wanika

And the actuality of Your pleasure

حَتّى تُظْفِرَنا فِيهِ بِكُلِّ خَيْرٍ مَطْلوبٍ

hatta tuzhfirana fehi bikulli khayrin matllwbin

So that You may make us win all good turns that is besought

وَجَزيلِ عَطاءٍ مَوهُوبٍ

wajazeli `atla‘in mawhuwbin

And the abundant share from any gifted bestowal

وَتُوَقِّيَنا فِيهِ مِنْ كُلِّ مَرْهوبٍ

watuwaqqeana fehi min kulli marhwbin

And that You save us from any dangerous matter,

أوْ بَلاءٍ مَجْلوبٍ

aw bala‘in majlwbin

Or any anticipated misfortune

أوْ ذَنْبٍ مَكْسوبٍ.

aw dhanbin makswbin.

Or any committed sin.

اَللّهُمَّ إنّي أسْألُكَ بِعَظيمِ ما سَألَكَ بِهِ أحَدٌ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ

allahumma inny asaluka bi`azhemi ma sa-alaka bihi ahadun min khalqika

O Allah: I beseech You in the name of the greatest of all these by which any of Your servants have besought You,

مِنْ كَريمِ أسْمائِكَ

min karemi asmaiika

Including Your Noble Names,

وَجَميلِ ثَنائِكَ

wajameli tlhanaiika

And the excellent praising of You

وَخاصَّةِ دُعائِكَ

wakhassati du`a’ika

And private supplication to You

أنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

an tusallea `ala muhammadin wa-ali muhammadin

That You may send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

وَأنْ تَجْعَلَ شَهْرَنا هَذا أعْظَمَ شَهْرِ رَمَضانَ مَرَّ عَلَيْنا

wa-an taj`ala shahrana hadha a`zhama shahri rama¤ana marra `alayna

And You may decide this month of Rama¤an to be the greatest month in blessings that we have ever witnessed

مُنْذُ أُنْزِلْنا إلى الدُّنْيا بَرَكَةً

mundhu aunzilna ila alddunya barakatan

Since we were sent down to this world,

في عِصْمَةِ دِينِي

fy `ismati dene

As regarding protection of my religion,

وَخَلاصِ نَفْسِي

wakhalasi nafse

And redemption of myself

وَقَضاءِ حَوائِجِي

waqa¤a‘i hawa’ije

And settlement of my needs

وَتُشَفِّعَنِي في مَسائِلِي

watushaffi`aniy fy masa’ile

And that You may accept my intercession to You concerning Your settlement of my requests

وَتَمامِ النِّعْمَةِ عَلَيَّ

watamami alnni`mati `alayya

And Your perfecting Your graces upon me

وَصَرْفِ السّوءِ عَنّي

wasarfi alssw‘i `anne

And Your keeping evil away from me

وَلِباسِ الْعافِيَةِ لي فِيهِ

walibasi al`afeati ly fehi

And Your dressing me with well-being during this month,

وَأنْ تَجْعَلَني بِرَحْمَتِكَ مِمَّنْ خِرْتَ لَهُ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ

wan taj`alany birahmatika mimman khirta lahu laylata alqadri

And that You may include me, out of Your mercy, with those whom You allowed to obtain the benefits of the Grand Night

وَجَعَلْتَها لَهُ خَيْراً مِنْ ألْفِ شَهْرٍ

waja`altaha lahu khayran min alfi shahrin

And those for whom You have decided this Night to be better than one thousand months,

في أعْظَمِ الأجْرِ

fy a`zhami alajri

As regarding obtaining its vastest rewards,

وَكَرائِمِ الذُّخْرِ

wakaraiimi aldhdhukhri

And its noblest gifts

وَحُسْنِ الشُّكْرِ

wahusni alshshukri

And approving praiseworthiness

وَطولِ العُمْرِ

watlwli al`umri

And obtaining long lifetime

وَدَوامِ الْيُسْرِ.

wadawami aleusri.

And perpetuity of comfort.

اَللّهُمَّ وَأسْألُكَ بِرَحْمَتِكَ وَطَوْلِكَ

allahumma wasaluka birahmatika watlawlika

O Allah: I also beseech You in the name of Your mercy and Your beneficence

وَعَفْوِكَ وَنَعْمائِكَ

wa`afwika wana`maiika

And Your pardon and Your graces

وَجَلالِكَ وَقديمِ إحْسانِكَ وَامْتِنانِكَ

wajalalika waqdemi ihsanika wamtinanika

And Your majesty and Your eternal favoring and conferral

أنْ لا تَجْعِلَهُ آخِرَ الْعَهْدِ مِنّا لِشَهْرِ رَمَضانَ

an la taj`ilahu akhira al`ahdi minna lishahri rama¤ana

That You may not decide this month of Rama¤an to be the last one in our lifetime;

حَتّى تُبَلِّغَناهُ مِنْ قابِلٍ عَلى أحْسَنِ حالٍ

hatta tuballighanahu min qabilin `ala ahsani halin

Rather, You may decide us to catch the coming month of Rama¤an while we enjoy the best of manners

وَتُعَرِّفَني هِلالَهُ مَعَ النّاظِرِينَ إلَيْهِ وَالْمُعْتَرِفينَ لَهُ

watu`arrifany hilalahu ma`a alnnazhirena ilayhi walmu`tarifena lahu

And that You may decide us to see the new moon of the next month of Rama¤an by including me with those who will see it and realize its value

في أعْفى عافِيَتِكَ

fy a`fa `afeatika

While I am enjoying the best wellbeing

وَأنْعَمِ نِعْمَتِكَ

wan`ami ni`matika

And the most blissful of Your bounties

وَأوْسَعِ رَحْمَتِكَ

Wa’awsa`i rahmatika

And the most expansive of Your mercy

وَأجْزَلِ قِسَمِكَ

wajzali qisamika

And the most abundant of the share of Your sustenance that You decide for me.

يا رَبِّيَ الَّذي لَيْسَ لي رَبٌّ غَيْرُهُ

ya rabbea alladhy laysa ly rabbun ghayruhu

O my Lord save Whom I have no lord;

لا يَكونُ هَذا الوَداعُ مِنّي لَهُ وَداعَ فَناءٍ

la yakwnu hadha alwada`u minny lahu wada`a fana‘in

(please) do not decide that this words of bidding the month of Rama¤an farewell to be the last farewell after which there will be my termination

وَلا آخِرَ الْعَهْدِ مِنّي لِلِّقاءِ

wala akhira al`ahdi minny lilliqa‘i

And do not decide this time to be the last of my meeting the month of Rama¤an;

حَتّى تُرِيَنّيهِ مِنْ قابِلٍ في أوْسَعِ النِّعَمِ وأفْضَلِ الرَّجاءِ

hatta tureannehi min qabilin fy awsa`i alnni`ami waf¤ali alrraja‘i

Rather, You may decide that You will enable me to witness the coming Rama¤an while I am enjoying the most expansive graces and attaining the best of my hopes

وأنَا لَكَ عَلى أحْسَنِ الْوَفاءِ

wana laka `ala ahsani alwafa‘i

And I am loyal to You in the most faithful manner.

إنَّكَ سَمِيعُ الدُّعاءِ.

innaka same`u alddu`a‘i.

Verily, You are the Hearer of prayers.

اَللّهُمَّ اسْمَعْ دُعائي

allahumma asma` du`a’e

O Allah: (please) respond to my prayer,

وَارْحَمْ تَضَرُّعي وَتَذَلُّلي لَكَ

warham ta¤arru`y watadhalluly laka

And have mercy upon my acquiescence and submission before You

وَاسْتِكانَتِي وَتَوَكُّلي عَلَيْكَ

wastikanatiy watawakkuly `alayka

As well as my humbleness and reliance upon You,

وَأنا لَكَ مُسَلِّمٌ

wana laka musallimun

While I am totally subservient to You;

لا أرْجو نَجاحاً وَلا مُعافاةً

la arjw najahan wala mu`afatan

I hope success and wellbeing

وَلا تَشْريفاً وَلا تَبْليغاً إلاَّ بِكَ وَمِنْكَ

wala tashrefan wala tableghan illa bika waminka

And honoring and attainment of my hopes from none save You and through none save You;

فَامْنُنْ عَلَيَّ

famnun `alayya

So, (please) do this favor to me—

جَلَّ ثَناؤكَ

jalla tlhanau´ka

Splendid be the praising of You,

وَتَقَدَّسَتْ أسْماؤكَ

wataqaddasat asmau´ka

And sacred be Your Names—

بِتَبْليغي شَهْرَ رَمَضانَ وَأنا مُعافىً مِنْ كُلِّ مَكْروهٍ وَمَحْذورٍ

bitableghy shahra rama¤ana wana mu`afan min kulli makrwhin wamahdhwrin

By allowing me to witness the (coming) month of Rama¤an while I am delivered from any apprehensive and fearful matter

وَمِنْ جَمِيعِ البَوائِقِ،

wamin jame`i albawa’iqi,

And from all misfortunes.

اَلْحَمْدُ للهِ الَّذي أعانَنا عَلى صِيامِ هَذا الشَّهْرِ وَقِيامِهِ

alhamdu lillahi alladhy a`anana `ala syami hadha alshshahri waqyamihi

All praise be to Allah Who has helped us observe fasting during this month and do acts of worship

حَتّى بَلَّغَني آخِرَ لَيْلَةٍ مِنْهُ.

hatta ballaghany akhira laylatin minhu.

Until I am witnessing the last night of this month.
